A large, shiny hardcover with a surprising amount of useful information in it about all sorts of things related to psi powers, from Home to Rhine to Gellar. A good basic overview; tends toward credulity, but usually gives skeptics at least a reasonable hearing. Some of the sections covering items that were recent at the time it was published come off as incredibly dated, but that's mostly to be expected. The organization is a bit weird, as is the case with many of these Time-Lifes, with information a bit scattered and coming back repeatedly to the same topics, but the index is pretty good, as is the bibliography. The formatting has a few issues: the paragraphs that start with drop caps appear to be chosen randomly, as opposed to actually dividing sections. And if you have issues with reading black text on a silver background, the special sections will annoy the bejeezus out of you. The illustrations are great, though, and the layout is generally friendly. no reviews | add a review
