What It's About:

Zero is supposed to spend the next hundred years peacefully asleep in a stasis pod while humanity travels to a distant planet. Unfortunately for him, his pod malfunctions and he wakes up a century too early! At first, having an entire spaceship to himself sounds pretty awesome, but things quickly take a turn when a family of space pirates boards the ship with plans to hijack it. With 20,000 colonists asleep and no adults around to save the day, Zero has to rely on his wits, show more courage, and creativity to stop them before it's too late.

My Thoughts:

I know I'm definitely not the target age group for this book, but honestly? This was such a fun time! πŸš€βœ¨

Zero G is cute, entertaining, fast-paced, and packed with adventure from beginning to end. Zero was an easy character to root for, and watching him outsmart pirates using nothing but his brain and determination was incredibly enjoyable. The humor landed well, the banter kept things light, and the story never took itself too seriously while still delivering plenty of exciting moments.

One of my favorite things about this audiobook was the full cast narration. It added so much personality and energy to the story, making it feel almost like listening to an animated movie. Every character felt distinct, and the performances made the adventure even more engaging.

If you're looking for a quick, wholesome sci-fi adventure with plenty of laughs, clever problem-solving, and a lovable young hero, I'd absolutely recommend giving this one a try. Whether you're a middle-grade reader or just someone looking for a fun palate cleanser between heavier books, *Zero G* delivers a stellar adventure. 🌟

**Audiobook Cast Highlights 🎧**
The full cast includes Emily Woo Zeller, Margaret Ying Drake, Betsy Hogg, Josh Hurley, Jonathan Davis, Jennifer Van Dyck, Chelsea Spack, Charlie Thurston, David Shih, Eunice Wong, Eddy Lee, Allyson Johnson, and Polly Lee, all of whom helped bring this cosmic adventure to life.

some quotes that resonated with this story but are not in the actual book: πŸ’«

> "Sometimes being the smallest person in the room just means nobody notices what you're doing."

> "Space is huge. Being alone in it is even bigger."

> "The best way to beat someone stronger than you is to think faster than they do."

Overall, this was a delightful sci-fi romp full of heart, humor, and adventure. πŸš€πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈπŸŒŒ

This is a delightful middle-grade sci-fi adventure that feels like Home Alone in space. The story follows twelve-year-old Zero, who wakes up 105 years early from stasis on a spaceship meant to colonize a new planet. With everyone else still asleep, Zero initially enjoys having the ship to himself. However, things take a thrilling turn when space pirates show up, and Zero must outsmart them to save the day.

I love that Zero is clever, resourceful, and relatable. His adventures and quick thinking make him a fun protagonist to root for. The spaceship setting is well-described, making it easy to visualize Zero's explorations and the challenges he faces. The book balances action-packed moments with humor, keeping the story engaging and show more entertaining.

Overall, Zero G is a fantastic read for kids who love sci-fi and adventure. It's a fun, fast-paced story that will keep young readers hooked from start to finish.

A nicely written space adventure for young readers, more up to date than other similar adventures (like Heinlein's Have Spacesuit - Will Travel). Enjoyable, with a story that is engaging and invests the reader in the protagonist.
I picked up Zero G as a freebie on Audible. It is a kid story in the Heinlen mode starring a couple of plucky twelve-year-olds. Zero and his family are in stasis on a sub-light colony ship when his pod malfunctions and wakes him while the ship is still poking around in the Oort Cloud. The pilot has gone missing, and there are asteroids to shoot. Then pirates show up. As a kid, I would have enjoyed this, though even then, I would have wished the pirates weren’t so dumb. 3.5.

This was a cute story about Zero, who is among 20,000 colonists headed to a new planet. the trip will take 105 years and they will be in stasis for the entirety. Unfortunately for Zero his stasis pod malfunctions, but fortunate for the conists. Because he is awake, he is able to thwart a pirate invasion. One of the pirates is the ship's pilot and he helps his cohorts to gain access to the ship and reroute it to another planet where the supplies will be looted and the colonists will be made to slave in mines.

All-in-all a fun adventure. The voice cast was excellent and really brought the story to life.
Zero G by Dan Wells and narrated by a whole host of talented players! This is one book kids will truly enjoy! A ship is taking 20,000 people to a new world to settle including Zero. They will be asleep for 105 years but his old messed up and wakes him up after only 28 days. This is what happens during that time and how they ended up with one more person onboard the ship when they got to the new planet! Great action, excitement, humor, and suspense!
The great cast of narrators made it super special!
The voices are good, unfortunately the story is not.

The events unfold fairly well until the pirates arrive.
The pirates are such over-the-top, pantomime pirates, that the rest of the tale doesn't work.

The ship and Zero and the creative-problem solving are all good, it just needed different bad guys.

Zero is supposed to be 12 but in behaviour and voice appears a bit younger.

I would say the book audience overall would be ages 8 and younger.
