Description
"The Republic of San Magnolia has long been under attack from the neighboring Giadian Empire's army of unmanned drones known as the Legion. After years of painstaking research, the Republic finally developed autonomous drones of their own, turning the one-sided struggle into a war without casualties-or at least, that's what the government claims. In truth, there is no such thing as a bloodless war. Beyond the fortified walls protecting the eighty-five Republic territories lies the show more "nonexistent" Eighty-Sixth Sector. The young men and women of this forsaken land are branded the Eighty-Six and, stripped of their humanity, pilot the "unmanned" weapons into battle"--Back cover. show lessTags

Highly recommended, but didn't live up to the hype. The YA dystopian beats are all there right where you expect them to be. Nothing really new is added or explored. Suffers from the same 1 line of dialogue for every 3 paragraphs of exposition explaining that dialogue that a lot of light novel writers fall prey to. You can easily skim this book and miss nothing if you've seen any dystopian film or anime. The epilogue actually sounds like a cool concept, and I would have liked to have read that book. Except that epilogue to the epilogue slams it right back into predictable tropes in preparation for a sequel.
One of the best LNs. A very interesting premise and a heart touching story just brought a little bit down by the usual LN shenanigans and the awkward prose (too young protags, girls "kyaaaaaa!"ing, awkward descriptions etc). Recommended for a light read

- No country would ever consider it an act of evil to deny a pig human rights.
Therefore, if you were to define someone speaking a different tongue, someone of a different color, someone of a different heritage as a pig ...
