Out of Order

Colt Trammell is a high school baseball player who is convinced that he cannot succeed in school. When his mom says he can't play baseball until his grades improve, Colt's first instinct is to lie, cheat, and steal his way to the grades he needs. Colt quickly realizes this won't work and hires the strange, new girl Corinne as his tutor. While this is going on, Colt is also trying to win back his recent ex-girlfriend and navigating the complex high school social scene. In this engaging, first-person narrative, perfect for reluctant readers, Colt's tough facade makes him unsympathetic at first, but as his vulnerability becomes apparent, readers will be rooting for his eventual success.
