Another exciting read with Morgan Dane and Lance Kruger investigating. In this case Olivia Cruz is missing and Lance's friend, Sharp needs their help to find her.

They look into murder cases she had been writing about, interview those involved as well as her family, her editor and agent. Thankfully they all have great support in their families to help them.

I particularly enjoy the postive energy and hope Leigh puts into her books.

In this final installment of the series, Morgan Dane and her colleagues look into the disappearance of true-crime writer Olivia Cruz. The investigation soon reveals connections to two cold cases, but why would someone want Olivia gone?

While this book is a significant improvement on the previous one and is a satisfying read overall, there are still some issues with Leigh's writing style. In this particular case, the resolution lacks foundation, and there is absolutely no foreshadowing to indicate the twist at the end. It is very irritating when the villain turns out to be a character introduced at the last minute.

Moreover, the police procedural elements are also weak and demonstrate insufficient research on Leigh's part. Although this isn't too bad considering the fact that Morgan, Lance, and Sharp are not law enforcement, it still detracts from the overall story.

Despite these problems, the plot and characters are appealing. There are some truly intense and suspensful moments from Olivia's perspective, and the scenes focusing on Lance's interactions with Morgan's young daughters are delightful.

In sum, this is a worthwhile series, and my buddy read with the 2-3-4 Challenge Group led to some wonderful discussions. ( )

This is one of my favorite audiobook series. I love the story, and characters. The narrator does a fantastic job, from adult characters to the children, especially Sofie. This is a nice series of crime, legal and romance, I drop everything when the new ones are released. ( )
