Complex psychological police procedural set in the Fens. What should be Matt Ballard's last case before retirement turns into a marathon psychological battle with a serial killer who appears to be rehabilitated. Plot involves Baltic drug smugglers, part of immigrant community working in agriculture. Unusual plot but be warned some gruesome murders before villain is unmasked. ( )
