The brilliant but brooding new doctor encounters Copper Point's sunny nurse-next-door... and nothing can stand in the way of this romance.

Dr. Hong-Wei Wu has come to Copper Point, Wisconsin, after the pressures of a high-powered residency burned him out of his career before he started. So, this is good. The hospital stuff is just detailed enough, for me. It was cool to learn a little about Taiwan culture (a reviewer who is also first gen Taiwanese US citizen was very pleased), And, I really liked Simon's eventual epiphany about his home town. I do know about little towns. :)

It is deliberately this type of hospital doctor/nurse romance and does it well. Simon is intentionally a soft-natured character. Nursing is a tough job, he's got strength. He just doesn't show it the same way Hong-Wei does.

I even liked the epilogue!

This is quite different from the other series I've read by this author, and I think some reviewers weren't expecting it, even though it's right there in the description. Humans. What can you do? ( )

This is an easy pleasant story with two appealing characters at the centre.

Hong Wei Wu/Jack is a surgeon who moves to a small hospital in Copper Point, Wisoncin, and falls in love with his senior surgical nurse, Simon.

Their chief challenge is that relationships between staff are forbidden. It seems a huge curtailment of personal freedom to me. I can see why it might be a policy but those reasons do not do justice to the responsible, intelligent, experienced workers. It's stupid and unfair.

The novel is about hiding their dating, about seduction through cooking...and music. It is lovely to see the two get to know each other, and share their attraction.

Simon's two flatmates who also work at the hospital are obvious subjects for future books in this series. ( )

More of a 3.5.

Has a little instalove but I loved the two main characters and their chemistry. The friendships and family dynamics are also very realistically portrayed. And the hospital work environment and the drama gave me total Grey’s Anatomy vibes ( )

I've been excited about reading this book since I pre-ordered it. I hadn't read it yet as I was worried about being disappointed, having high expectations, lol. I shouldn't have worried even for a second though as this was everything I hoped for.

I'll admit I enjoy a good doctor/nurse story. It just has a certain allure for me, although I don't really know why. And this definitely hit the high points for me. Heidi Cullinan is one of those authors who manage to write characters so life-like you feel you could meet them down the street (or in this case at Copper Point Hospital *grin*). Add to that an engaging storyline, no "created" drama, interesting side characters and, for me, it's a match made in heaven! I can't wait to read the rest of this series. ( )
