This is a great story. Bear's favorite book is falling apart, so he decides to write is own, but what can he write about. We get to join Bear as he tries to find inspiration for his book idea. Along the way his friends ask for help.
I love this story and how they show a book idea does not always come easy. We also have a pull out page in the book that is Bear's story. With cute illustrations and loveable characters this book will be loved by many.

Bear loves to read so much that one day when his favorite book falls apart bear decides to write his own; but how does one come up with a story? Follow Bear and his friends on his journey to authorship. I love a story that starts with a well loved book and ends with writing your own book. I have worked in an elementary school library for more than 20 years and I cannot even think of Anything more rewarding than fostering a love of reading and watching it progress into a love of writing. A number of years ago I implemented a "self published" section in the library. I hand out blank books the children that ask for one, then catalog them when they bring them back so that other children can check them out. This story shows children that show more reading and writing goes hand in hand and that everything is more fun with friends! show less
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers. This is a very charming book about stories and writing stories. Bear has a hard time coming up with writing stories, so he tries to find activities that help. Along the way, friends ask him for help and end up inspiring more stories. I like how the book shares a simplified version of the writing process so children can see it as a part of the journey. The plot and the charming drawings help make the book great paired with an introduction to book making. This book is recommended for read-aloud for kindergartners.
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.I adore this simple and sweet tale of a bear who loves books. The illustrations are whimsical, and the narrative is just right for a young child's story-time. This one is going to my granddaughter!
This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.Every good story begins with a back scratch! This and other delightful gems can be found in this warm and friendly book. We especially enjoyed the book-in-a-book as bear draws on his own life and relationships to write his story. With Alison Friend's cozy illustrations, Bear's Book invites the reader back again and again.

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.Bear's Book by Claire Freedman is a beautiful children's book that is abut friendship, creativity, imagination, and writing. Alison Friend's illustrations are cute, soft, and just make you want to be able to hug all the characters. The illustrations really bring this book to life.
This book is perfect for children about 4 and up as it is a bit too long for the preschool group. The story also is inspiring for children who want to be writers as it illustrates how you can draw on your life to create a story. Even for children not interesting in writing, it is still a wonderful story about friendship and helping your friends.

This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.Sweet illustrations surround this story about a bear who wants to write a book but struggles to find an idea. He meets other forest creatures along his journey to find ideas. The best part is the ending where bear takes all the events that happened with his friends and turns them into a story. The book has a separate fold-out section of this book-within-a-book. While the events are similar, bear has definitely transformed them into a different, adventure story about pirates. This book would be a great way to introduce young kids to the art of transforming ideas into storytelling and narrative writing.
