The Lost One

Did not finish book. Stopped at 60%.
Another DNF in my favorite childhood series re-read. This one introduces a new teen goddess to the mix and she isn't very likeable. One of my favorite things about all of the other girls in this series is that they always prioritize their friends and their "work" over the guys they're interested in. In this book, as soon as Michael shows up Tianna is completely thrown off course from what she's in the middle of doing. It happens again and again. She has murderers after her and is the only person who can communicate with a missing girl stuck in another dimension. I got about 60% of the way through when she's in the middle of talking to the only people who seem to know anything about these two massive show more problems she has, Michael shows up and she literally starts dancing with him instead of continuing the life saving convo she was in the middle of. She has a lot of other unlikeable traits, but this was where I gave up and skim-read the rest so I wouldn't be lost for the next book.

The next books focus on characters I know and love, so I'm hoping this is just a mid-series slump. show less

All right, to be completely honest, after I started reading this book, I screamed Mary Sue. Not that Tiana is any more “special” than any of the other girls, but there are only four Daughters of the Moon and now all of a sudden the author is throwing this random girl in with them. Her character felt superfluous to me. Rather than spending time getting to know her, I would have preferred getting to know the other character’s better. So, not one of the better books in the series, but we still develop some more plot against the Atrox.

A new characters is introduced into the story in the shape of Tianna. She wakes up one day with no memory of who she is, where she is and what on earth is going on. She pieces information together throughout the day from a note she finds in her shoe, a neighbour and the people at La Brea High School. The note in her own hand writing warns her that someone is after her and she is in danger and she discovers she has a magical power, she can move things with her mind.

She seems to keep meeting up with Jimena, Vanessa and Serena who are still looking for their lost friend Catty. Tianna doesn't know who to trust and who to turn to whilst running from those chasing her. Is Tianna able to help rescue Catty even without her memory and who is show more chasing after her and why? Is she another Daughter of the Moon or something else entirely?

This was another great addition to the series which keeps getting better and better. Tianna is a fun, fresh new character and I really liked the ending and am looking forward to seeing what happens next. show less
