Stacy and Lydia return from summer camp, stoked about their new fashion look and looking forward to sharing it with best friend Kelly as well as getting an in with The Chicas, a trio of “it” girls at school. But life doesn’t go as planned: their fashion look is all wrong, Kelly alone seems to have been fully accepted into The Chicas’ fold, and worse, Stacy and Lydia have been snubbed for invitations to Eben’s bar mitzvah, the party of the year. They scheme to get invites to the party by recreating good times with Kelly, brownnosing The Chicas, and finally, outright crashing the party with socially disastrous results. At Yom Kippur, Stacy realizes that just because people don’t like you doesn’t mean you’re unlikable. show more Practicing being a good friend and being herself are more important. show less
I thought this book was pretty annoying. When I read the first one I complained about the main character's lack of maturity, and this is just more of the same. The main character tells ridiculous lies throughout the book which constantly get her into trouble, and the way they all talk grates on my nerves. The characters are 8th graders, but I think this book is suited more towards around 6th grade readers.
