It’s been almost a year since Derrick’s mother died. According to the apocalypse blogs that he subscribes to, the end of the world will be September 21, in 19 days. He’s been preparing the shed with supplies for months. As book unfolds, it’s a bit confusing but we are launched into the middle of Derrick’s coping. Things start to make some sense as small details reveal themselves; a hint about mom not being present, things they used to do, dad dating women from the internet, etc. ( )
