Calliope dreams of creating far off realms and mystical adventures with her writing. But her parents fear she's filling her head with a foolish fancy. To set her on what they feel is a more solid, and stern path, they ship her off to boarding school. They thought they would snuff out her dreams with a strict educational regime. They couldn't be more wrong. Here there are poetry battles, and writing prompts that could make all her dreams come true. But beneath the promise of endless possibility lies a threatening darkness. One that has Calliope fearing she won't survive to graduation. Think you can solve the gripping mystery found within Ecrivain? Think again.… (more)

Are y a misfit? Outsider? Even if your not but have felt like one from time to time then you will relate to the characters in this book brilliantly. A wonderful engaging boarding school story full of mystery, deceit and suspense. The story does end on a cliffhanger so if you hate those beware. The beginning of the book was hard to get into as I felt the parents and little brother to be overtop and the lacking depth. The entire 'home scene' was a bit over the top but if you can look past that then you will enjoy this coming of age tale. ( )
