Competent guide to what political historians should do. This was a standard textbook for my introductory course. He was very much a document collector and political analyst.

English historian Geoffrey Elton was born in Germany but educated at the University of London. In 1967 he became professor of constitutional history at Cambridge University. A scholar of Tudor administrative history, his studies have emphasized the development of modern governmental machinery, under the direction of Thomas Cromwell, as the central show more feature of the Tudor era.
