Maxine Trottier was born in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan on May 3, 1950. When she was ten, she moved with her family to Windsor, Ontario, Canada. She is a dual citizen of Canada and the United States. She is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario. She was an elementary school teacher for 31 years. After retiring from teaching, she began show more to write children's books.
