Description
Agent Cooper Dayton is almost relieved to get a phone call from his former boss at the Bureau of Special Investigations. It means a temporary reprieve from tensions created by house hunting with Oliver Park, his partner both in work and in life. Living together in a forever home is exactly what Cooper wants. He's just not keen on working out the details. With a former alpha werewolf missing, Cooper and Park are loaned to the BSI to conduct the search at a secluded mountain retreat. The show more agents will travel to the resort undercover . . . as a couple in need of counseling. The resort is picturesque, the grounds are stunning and the staff members are all suspicious as hell. With a long list of suspects and danger lurking around every cabin, Cooper should be focusing on the case. But he's always been anxious about the power dynamics in his relationship with Park, and participating in the couples' activities at the retreat brings it all to the surface. A storm is brewing, though, and Cooper and Park must rush to solve the case before the weather turns. Or before any more guests-or the agents themselves-end up dead. Contains mature themes. show lessTags

He looked extremely intimidating for a man standing totally naked except for one sock.
This might have been my favorite of the series. Oliver and Cooper go undercover to a couple’s retreat for werewolves and it’s as fun as it sounds. Cooper accidentally does some introspective work and handles it as gracefully as ever. If by grace I mean absolute denial.
I feel like Oliver finally got comfortable in this book and really stepped up his private time game. His past really did a number on him and he has a hard time trusting good things like Cooper happening to him.
I have been so delighted with this series because each book shows their relationship a little bit more settled.

As much as I love a good ghost story, I’m not a huge fan of vampires and werewolves. This book was in the box that my friends left for me…so I thought okay…a gay werewolf…and a dominate human that is as human as anyone could possibly be. As improbable as a hot, sexy, heartwarming hysterically funny romance between a cranky, cantankerous, loner Alpha human with anxiety and PTSD to boot… and the almost equally Alpha, dry-witted, generally Zen-like emotionally controlled, former enforcer of one of the most powerful werewolf packs in existence seems…it really works. Even their cat loves them equally. They are so cute together…well…as cute as a gay werewolf with his ability to grow fur anytime he wants… can be. The story show more doesn’t portray him as what we think of topically being a werewolf.. Here werewolves are just people… man or woman that can shift into wolf form, but most don’t go around killing anything that moves. I’m looking forward to finding out through the other books what other similarities these wolves possess with ordinary people. This book is nearly at the end of the series… #4 of 5. My two friends have promised they will order the first 3 and the last one as a favor to me. What a great two guys they are!!! It’s a really well written story with mystery and suspense throughout the book and never a single boring moment and comical remarks from Cooper. UPDATE NOTE: YEAH! My friends just brought me books #1 & #2… [Wolf At The Door] & [Wolf At Bay]. Think I’m going to keep them :)… My friends that is. show less
Really fun going undercover at a couples retreat. I didn't predict the resolution to the plot at all, and once again I am loving how Cooper and Oliver's relationship has grown.
3.5 stars. This series has been a mixed bag for me. I was so annoyed by Cooper's (and then Park's) inability to be open with each other, especially in [b:The Wolf at the Door|38899537|The Wolf at the Door (Big Bad Wolf #1)|Charlie Adhara|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1519953916l/38899537._SY75_.jpg|58190977] and [b:The Wolf at Bay|40747985|The Wolf at Bay (Big Bad Wolf #2)|Charlie Adhara|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1531073836l/40747985._SX50_.jpg|61270807] - about their feelings, about the secrets in their past - that I read all of Wolf in Sheep's Clothing with my heart in my throat, waiting for another Big Misunderstanding or Failure to Communicate. And show more indeed the story starts with our two MCs house-hunting and Cooper afraid to tell Park that he doesn't like any of the McMansions that Park seems to favor. But then once they get called out on a case, things get much better. Cooper isn't thrilled to be back in a setting where he is one of only a few humans, but he is pretty direct with Park about his insecurities, and when weird stuff starts happening, Cooper lets Park in emotionally (or as emotionally as prickly, snarky Cooper ever gets). There are several hot love scenes (the power dynamics between the two MCs provide for some not quite run of the mill sexy times) and some heart-stopping, life-threatening danger at the book's climax, with the relationship taking another step forward in the aftermath and the promise of at least one more story.
I'm not really a mystery reader so I have to admit all of the potential suspects, red herrings, clues, etc. didn't hold my interest; I'm mostly here for the romance. And I kept getting hung up on the names of one of the victims (how do you pronounce "Llcaj?" Does the double L sound like the Spanish Y? Is the J hard or soft?), and slightly confused by the numerous secondary characters. The relationship between Charlie and Park kept me going, though, and I suspect it will lead me to #5, [b:Cry Wolf|50744187|Cry Wolf (Big Bad Wolf, #5)|Charlie Adhara|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/book/50x75-a91bf249278a81aabab721ef782c4a74.png|75767676] in 2021. show less

Do you ever finish a book and just...wish there was more of it? Not because it had an unsatisfactory ending, but just the opposite - because it was so good that you feel you know the characters and desperately want to stay as part of their lives. That's how I feel after finishing Wolf in Sheep's Clothing by Charlie Adhara. I am quite relieved to know there's another installment coming in this series. These books are awesome.
This couple .... well, it's five stars. There. Fixed it.
The mystery takes a small back seat but it's still an intriguing twist. Honestly, I didn't care about that, I was into the personal developments, funny relationships bundles at a couples retreat, more developments. A favorite romance series. Cannot wait for the next book in the series. Hope this one continues for several more *crosses fingers*

What I've been liking the most in this series is that I'm feeling very stupid. I only guessed right the villain in the first and third books, this keeps me entertained.

- Epigraph
- “... You tricked me,” cried the Little Blue Wolf. “You tricked me and now you have stolen my tail! Without it I can never go home.”
The Monster in the Mountain laughed. “Silly little wolf. Did you really thin... (show all)k you could sleep in the mouth of a monster and not get bit?”
—Excerpt from a North American werewolf fable. Date and author unknown. - Dedication
- In memory of Jane,
a true romantic whose unwavering love and kindness were one of a kind.
We miss you. - First words
- The fact that he was here could only mean one thing: something had gone terribly wrong.
- Quotations
- Park inclined his head slightly in that way of his that always made him look like some kind of benevolent god accepting a loving sacrifice. When Cooper tried the same he looked like he’d suddenly dropped food down his shirt... (show all).
What the hell about him had Park seen and thought, Oh yes, anxiety-ridden loner with a temper sharper than a serpent’s tooth and a deep-seated fear of change whose longest successful relationship is with an equally judgment... (show all)al cat? Swoon. It seemed too improbable for words.
“Your average human sees a mouse and it makes a sound like a lion and smells like a snake, you’d say that mouse made a weird sound. A wolf would say there’s a snake in this room and it sounds like a lion and looks like ... (show all)a mouse.”
“I’m relieved to hear it,” Dr. Joyce said. “Should we get started on what’s brought you here today?”
“‘What we’ve got here is failure to communicate,’” Cooper quoted, and ignored Park’s overly put-... (show all)upon sigh. If “Andrew” thought he was going to miss an opportunity for a reference like that, maybe this fake relationship wasn’t worth saving.
“Oh,” he said, shocked, and a slight flush colored his cheeks. “I...oh.”
“I’d like to buy a consonant now, please,” Cooper said. - Last words
