This one includes a German who taunts her every chance he gets - from arresting her husband to putting a 5 million Franc bounty on her head. She narrowly escaped to England, only to join the SOE, giving her another chance in France. She parachutes into Auvergne, stepping into her most challenging assignment yet - gain the respect and trust of the toughest bunch of Resistance fighters. This story was phenomenal and had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. One of the best WWII books I’ve read. ( ) Fascinating look into the wartime efforts of resistance fighter Nancy Wake to undermine the Nazis in France during WWII. The fast pace action of her life in France, as the White Mouse and her wartime efforts of resistance fighter against the Nazis, make this a can't put down read. When her husband is arrested for treason, she escapes to England and joins the Special Operations Executive (SOE) she returns to France and takes up her fight against the Nazis again, even though doing so puts her beloved husband at great risk. This historical fiction thriller will keep you reading to the end as you discover more about one of the war's most decorated women. no reviews | add a review
To the Allies she was a fearless freedom fighter, Special Operations super spy, a woman ahead of her time. To the Gestapo she was a ghost, a shadow, the most wanted person in the world with a million-franc bounty on her head. Her name was Nancy Wake. Now, for the first time, the roots of her legend are told in a thriller about one woman's incredible quest to save the man she loves, turn the tide of the war, and take brutal revenge on those who have wronged her.
