Emotional and at times breathtaking, Superman: Up in the Sky's simple premise unravels in the most unexpected ways, revealing one of the best Superman stories of all time. ( )

Superman: Up in the Sky is a collection of 6 issues that make up the comic series. It describes the lengths that Superman would go to, so that he could save even a single life. It displays what makes Superman such an important character and shows why he has remained such a cultural keystone in society. This does not need a lot of background information, so it is easy for people to start reading it. It is pretty feel-good, and I like it quite a lot. ( )

At first , this reminded me a lot of Brian Michael Bendis' Batman: Universe, as it is basically a Superman team-up book, with Supes bouncing around the universe on a quest. But King's short stories really got to the heart of Superman as a character and the closing chapters really resonated for me emotionally.

This is probably the best Superman book I've read in decades. ( )
