Too long for me, and the child's voice too breathless, enchanted w/ everything, it seems.  But I do like seeing all sorts of paintings and images that relate to history, presented in mutual context.   (Same comment for every book in the set.) ( )

I think this book would be appropriate for 4th to 5th graders because of the history material. The book talks about traveling and other parts of the world which would be good very children to see. It also teaches Art History.

It's 1894, and Charlotte and her American family have been living in France for two years while her father learned the way of painting called Impressionism. Now his paintings are going to be featured in a show in New York, and Charlotte records the adventure in her journal. Illustrated with full-color museum reproductions. ( )
