One of Oprah Magazine's 21 Romance Novels That Are Set to Be the Best of 2020

USA Today bestselling author Talia Hibbert returns with another charming romantic comedy about a young woman who agrees to fake date her friend after a video of him "rescuing" her from their office building goes viral...

Danika Brown knows what she wants: professional success, academic renown, and an occasional roll in the hay to relieve all that career-driven tension. But romance? Been there, done that, burned the T-shirt. Romantic partners, whatever their gender, are a distraction at best and a drain at worst. So Dani asks the universe for the perfect friend-with-benefitsâ??someone who knows the score and knows their way around the bedroom.

When big, brooding security guard Zafir Ansari rescues Dani from a workplace fire drill gone wrong, it's an obvious sign: PhD student Dani and former rugby player Zaf are destined to sleep together. But before she can explain that fact to him, a video of the heroic rescue goes viral. Suddenly, half the internet is shipping #DrRugbaeâ??and Zaf is begging Dani to play along. Turns out his sports charity for kids could really use the publicity. Lying to help children? Who on earth would refuse?

Dani's plan is simple: fake a relationship in public, seduce Zaf behind the scenes. The trouble is, grumpy Zaf is secretly a hopeless romanticâ??and he's determined to corrupt Dani's stone-cold realism. Before long, he's tackling her fears into the dirt. But the former sports star has issues of his own, and the walls around his heart are as thick as his... um, thighs.

The easy lay Dani dreamed of is now more complex than her thesis. Has her wish backfired? Is her focus being tested? Or is the universe just waiting for her to take a hint?

"Talia Hibbert is a rockstar! Her writing is smart, funny, and sexy..." - Meg Cabot, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Little Bridge Island and Princess Diaries series… (more)

I thought the first book (Get a life Chloe Brown) was good, but this, this was so much better! I even shed some tears. There is no doubt Talia can write a romance novel and give us everything you want in one. It felt like being given everything you’re craving at once when you’re on your period. There was fluff, there was smut (which was well done, might I add!!), there was cheesiness in all its gooey gloriness, and strong character development. I’m new to the world of romance, so experiencing such diverse characters, was nothing short of splendid, great!! Give Talia all her flowers and accolades because this book was it! ( )

THESE BOOKS! THESE CHARACTERS! UGH I LOVE THE BROWN SISTERS AND I CAN'T WAIT TO START THE THIRD ONE!!! Talia Hibbert is consistent with bringing us yet another cute romance story that’s great for a comfort read. in this one i enjoyed the dynamic of the jaded, anti-romance female character paired with the sentimental, romance-loving male character. the smut, the banter the moments of compassion *chef's kiss* saying i liked sounds weird, but Hibbert making mental health a focus point in this book with both Dani and Zaf struggling with anxiety and the two of them learning how to deal with the world and relationships was great. and to see how kind and patient they were to each other as they figured things out was the best. we love kind and caring people! Very cute! The intimate scenes were spicy, the "dating" scenes were sweet, and the banter between the characters well written. ( )

This was a fun read. I loved getting back to the Brown family and seeing Chloe and Red again. Dani is such a firecracker and I empathized with her and the stress of academia and trying to eventually learn not to be so hyper-focused. This book had one of my best tropes- the fake relationship, and it was delicious to see.

A star is however subtracted because while I liked Dani but didn't love her like GALCB. I felt extremely frustrated with some of her actions especially because I didn't feel what she had experienced was that awful (but that's just my opinion).

P.S. How does Talia write the swooniest heroes?! I absolutely loved him. ( )
