When applying Levy's wisdoms to contemporary cat care,pawleeze run the ideas past an open-minded vet, just to check that no harm will result. Some of the old pet treatments and remedies have been shown to be less than safe. At the same time, note that many old treatments and tonics lay waiting to be rediscovered, and that much of this can be accomplished by carefully wading through Levy's writings.
