From New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting comes a new romance about trading secrets, breaking the rules, and playing for keeps. My name is Ryan Kingston, and I'm a rule follower. I've never been in a fistfight. I always obey the speed limit. I don't get drunk, and I definitely don't pick up random women at bars. Except the night I found out that my whole existence has been a lie. I got drunk. And picked up a stranger. Her name was Queenie, and she was everything I'm not: reckless, impulsive, and chaotic. We did shots and traded secrets. And ended up naked at my place. She left me a thank-you note in the morning and her panties as a parting gift. But no way to contact her. Six weeks later I'm sitting in the first official team meeting of the season, and there she is. I neglected to mention that I'm the goalie for Seattle's NHL team. And Queenie? Turns out she's the general manager's daughter.… (more)

I honestly didn’t think any hockey player could get any better than Bishop but let me tell you King takes the cake. I still love Bishop and I especially loved getting to see more of his and King’s bromance, but Kingston was pure perfection. He is a khaki, polo wearing, polite, prom and proper man but get him in the sheets and he is wild, out of control, and sexy. Queenie makes me laugh and I feel so sad for her because she feels like she is a disappointment to her father and her life is chaos and it is but she works hard, loves even harder, and is brilliant. She is the perfect storm for King’s calm. These two are total opposites but they bring the best out in each other and after enduring some drama will they make it or cut their losses and walk away? I loved the banter, wit, family vibes this book had and Violet didn’t annoy me in this book I actually found her enduring. This author knows how to write such cute, steamy reads that make you smile and feel like you are part of the character’s world. ( )

I have to say there is just something about this author and the stories that she creates. She makes me like hockey, which is a feat in itself because I hate all sports except baseball. I can always count on her characters to be a little zany and over the top. However, this book was a tad different.

For once the characters in this weren't over the top but the people and the chaos around them were. I enjoyed Queenie. I could see why she felt out of control with the things that were going on around her from her mother to the big "fiasco" in this book. I liked that she found her strength and her purpose. I, especially, loved her Dad. He was much different than I was expecting him to be. King, this guy. He has to be the most patient and laid back guy ever. The way that he handled everything was nice to see. Together, these two were so cute.

I also enjoyed being around Violet and the Fam again. The scenes with Lavender were truly sweet and handled so well. I loved seeing a little of Bishop and Stevie again too. These characters are truly magical. The way that this author connects them all is done so seamlessly and it appears genuine. I never want this series to end, much like I didn't want the Pucked series to end. Regardless, of what this author does next, I will be here for the journey. ( )

When Ryan Kingston finds out that his sister is really his biological mother, it seems like a good time to have a few drinks at a local bar, but he doesn't count on Queenie taking the seat next to him and sharing her troubles. It isn't long before they find themselves drunk and in bed together in what should amount to no more than a one night stand, but their attraction is not that simple. Unfortunately it becomes more complicated when Ryan discovers that Queenie is his NHL hockey team manager's daughter, and she is temporarily working as her father's assistant.

In the beginning of A Secret for a Secret, the problems the protagonists face don't seem to be all that difficult to overcome, but it isn't until near the middle of the book that the real issues become clear and explode with both humor and drama. The characters are well drawn if a little bit cliche, but the troubles they face are unique and engaging. Overall, the plot in A Secret for a Secret is fairly predictable, but the book provides a light, fun story with likable characters that makes for an enjoyable read.

Addition to my review - I just realized that the ax throwing bar where Ryan and Queenie go for a date is the same place that was in [b:Kiss My Cupcake|49089437|Kiss My Cupcake|Helena Hunting|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1579448763l/49089437._SY75_.jpg|74525499], which I loved, so just for that, I'm raising my review a half star to 4 1/2 stars.
