Illustrations look like woodcuts/wood-burnings or rubberstamping and make me think of totem pole figures. I like the use of the different colored line to illustrate the change of animal characters on Calabash Cat's journey. makes you think about what we all consider "our world" or what we know as "the world" and about the perspective of others. Another fun read-aloud book!
This is a story about a calabash cat, who is a West African cat. He goes out to find out where the world is and crosses many lands and meeting various animals. What makes this book most interesting to me is the art. At the end of the book, there is a description about the art in Chad. They burn designs onto a calabash gourd. I also liked how the book uses the Arabic dialect of Chad on the page. Its repetitive so I think it could be used in younger grades along with a social studies lesson on Africa.
Calabash Cat wants to find out where the world ends. On his journey, he rides the backs of an camel, horse, tiger, and whale only to find out they all have different ideas of where the world ends. He comes to see that they were all wrong when he meets the eagle, who showed him that the world is endless.

This book was great and would be a great book to share with my students. It is a good life lesson to show my students that there is so much to do and see in this world. There world can be endless as well.
this book has repetition and could be used for beginner readers
