Great overview of the topic and a wonderful job on the illustrations and appendices. I did notice one error. On p. 100 it mentions "second century AD", but it's clear from earlier context it means "second century BC".
As the US confronts a competion of fairly recent years with China this book that explains how many inventions come in fact from earlier Chinese history is an important part of the picture. No, we were not first, and it makes a difference.
One of the most important books I have ever read. This book should be mandatory reading for anyone interested in history, science, medicine, astronomy, architecture, and engineering. Amazsing, eye-opening, wonderful read. It will change everything you thought you knew.
