Ostensibly a collection of comics, this is more than that. Original comics are mixed with sly and amusing back stories that feint at giving background to the creation of the comics but really make fun of the self-importance of artists. Many of the comics are quite innovative and most of them feel fresh. Worth a look and look forward to checking out other editions. ( ) no reviews | add a review
This inaugural, 62-page issue of TROPE, features 20 single-panel, black-and-white comics by Picklefish Comics' intrepid in-house cartoonist, the legendary Arthur Trope, along with accompanying editorial commentary. Issue #1: "Origins", chronicles Artie's research trip to Mumbai and Lauscaux, where he delves into the ancient origins of the single-panel comics found on cave walls and rockshelters in prehistoric India and France. Also included in Issue #1 is the feature story The Neanderthal Codex, a little-known history of Pope Leo X's attempt to raise a super-army of Neanderthals to fight off The Reformation, using the secret designs for a time-traveling machine that may or may not have been invented by Leonardo Da Vinci.
