A hotshot pilot and a Southern princess looking for a fresh start collide in the wilds of Alaska. The first time I met Daphne involved three things: a cute skirt, a bear, and mud. Lots of mud. Daphne is everything I don't need, and she makes me crazy in all the wrong ways. This princess does not belong in the wilderness. Or, so I think. But then, thought is hard to come by around Daphne. Between flying tourists all over Alaska's skies, hotshot firefighting on the side, raising my sixteen year old sister who has enough attitude to run the world, and fending off demons from my days in the military, I don't have time for women. But time's been laughing at me ever since Daphne showed up. I can't get her out of my mind, and my control has fled the building. Oh, and I'm her boss. One night, just one night, I let things go too far. Now, all bets are off.*A full-length, standalone romance.… (more)

Daphne is out to prove to herself she is capable of anything she sets her mind to and looking for a getaway from the chaos that has been her life lately. She has endured heart ache that I could not even imagine and then the ultimate betrayal by someone who was supposed to be by her side through thick and thin. So, some time away in Alaska is just what she is looking for but running to the resort owner, Flynn is an incredibly happy surprise. Flynn is not only attractive but hardworking, loyal, and will do anything for those he loves. He is a silent and brooding type of guy that doesn’t want to disrupt the way he currently lives his life he likes working hard for his resort and he loves taking care of his siblings yet deep down he craves something more. Flynn tries so hard to fight his attraction to Daphne and comes off as rude or grumpy, but that fight doesn’t last long. My heart hurt for Daphne and all she endured but she was resilient and I also hurt for Flynn because having to become a parent figure to siblings and getting them out of debt is not an easy thing for anyone. This was such a great read about learning to find yourself, finding love again, and trying move forward when all in the world makes it seem like it’s impossible. ( )

Daphne wanted to start over after a traumatic event, Flynn was being a good host. When the two meet, sparks fly. A wonderful story about grief and learning to love again.
