This book, much like the previous book in the series, is part poetry, part advice. Its interesting reading the Big Sister's response to the poems. I see myself in both sisters, at different points. I appreciate the message the book is sending, but I do kinda miss the format and ferocity found in the "women are some kind of magic" series.

Once again, I love the artwork and spent a long time staring at the full page forest spread. ( )

As usual, Amanda used her authentic voice and personal history to weave a collection of poetry that speaks loudly of self-belief, strength, healing and truth. Exceptional. ( )

Winter 2020 (Dec);

Another of the gorgeous arcs granted by publishers I meant to read earlier this year, but COVID times really have gotten into my reading habits and turned everything askew. I wanted to make sure I got through this one before the end of the year, and it was one of the best decisions ever.

I ended up reading this in bed, long into the night, finding piece after piece I wanted to share with friends and family members. Lovelace continues to march her way through the worst lies the world, as we ourselves, tell us, and to show the way through that darkness in the true light. I am incredibly glad to see this second series of her doing that in every way and cannot wait for the next piece in this series already. ( )

The latest of Lovelace's books didn't disappoint. I truly enjoyed this one very thoroughly. I think this is one of my favorites that she wrote. Reading this really opened my eyes and brought a sense of warmth into me. It also brought me a feeling of magic and power within me. Her books bring me back to a place where I need to start being me for me and no one else. Owning my own magic and unleashing my powers on the world without a second thought. ( )

Exceptional as always. Amanda Lovelace's poetry is empowering, insightful, and savage in the best possible way. Her poems are short, to the point, and will stick with readers long after the book is finished. The illustrations are also beautiful and add to the book. This is the second collection in the "You Are Your Own Fairy Tale" collection and I can't wait for the third. They keep getting better! ( )
