Many nice autobiographical sketches military people. Common themes were wanting to serve their country and getting back to their unit after an injury. ( )

Here, in the stories of those who’ve fought overseas, readers will find the truth of what serving, fighting, and coming home is REALLY like. These eye-opening accounts range from heart-warming to gritty and raw to humorous; all woven together to create a complex fabric of patriotism, service, and dedication. It’s both inspiring and heart-rending.

Divided into five sections . . . A Call to Duty, In Training, In Country, On the Home Front, and Memorial Day . . . heroic stories from forty-seven men and women reveal the courage, resilience, and ingenuity of those who serve in defense of our country. Some remain on active duty while others have transitioned to the Reserves. Some have separated from the military after a few years; others have retired following as many as forty-one years of service to our nation.

These powerful stories are sure to touch every reader’s heart . . . to all who have so honorably served: “God bless you” and here’s a heartfelt “thank you” for your selfless service.

Highly recommended. ( )
