Every morning, Monet wakes up early to go paint the Seine River as the light hits it differently with each movement of the rising sun.

I was really excited to read this book, seeing how the cover seemed to really capture the essence of Monet's impressionistic art style. After reading it, I can confirm that the illustrator did an excellent job with this throughout every page.

However, the text is frankly kind of dull. There is nothing lyrical or captivating about any of it. Also, as a biography, this is lacking in any amount of detail, choosing to focus only on a brief timeframe of Monet's life and work. Even the backmatter doesn't add much more context. That being said, I did like the message (stated very clearly) about art being hard show more work that takes time, energy, and patience.

Come for the lovely illustrations but that's really all of note.
