This book is about a monkey named George that cannot stop being curious about the surprise that his best friend (the man in the yellow hat) was planning for him. There are hints in the book that there is going to be a party but George is not familiar with parties so he snoops around and gets into little shenanigans. This is a great book to read aloud to kids because it keeps them entertained with George's curiosity and it also teacher them kindness and gratefulness towards others.

Curious George is a classic and I love pretty much all of his stories. This story is about the man in the yellow hat planning a surprise birthday party for George. George, of course, gets into mischief beforehand with the cake but is able to think of a way to solve the problem on his own.
This book was fun to read! Could be used to read to a child when it is their birthday. Early reader's can use this book and other curious george books to practice reading.

Review: The author does a good job of creating a story that could not happen in our world. This book follows a curious monkey as he discovers his world with the man in the yellow hat. The man throws George a birthday party and the story unfolds as George tries to figure out what the surprise is.
Media: Watercolor and Charcoal Pencil
curious george (monkey) was asked by his owner to stay out of trouble and accidentally made a huge mess - even though his intention was good and was trying to help. He was quick thinking and problem solved a way to fix it. After the solution, he was rewarded by a birthday party for himself.
This story was about a monkey who was curious about a surprise he was going to get. George went to the living room and he saw a lot of decorations. Then, George went to the kitchen and saw a cake. George tried to make frosting for the cake. The frosting ended up being on the floor so George ended up letting the dogs outside come into the kitchen to lick up the frosting on the floor. The surprise was a birthday party for George. All of George's friends were at his house. This story teaches children to always be nice because you never know when someone might give you a surprise.
Celebrate Georges surprise birthday adventure in this amazing George book.

Hans Augusto Rey was born on September 16, 1898 in Hamburg, Germany. He escaped to Paris with his wife after the Nazi's invaded. While in Paris, Hans's animal drawings came to the attention of French publisher, who commissioned him to write a children's book. The result, Rafi and the Nine Monkeys, is little remembered today, but one of its show more characters, an adorably impish monkey named Curious George, was such a success that the couple considered writing a book just about him. Their work was interrupted with the outbreak of World War II. As Jews, the Reys decided to flee Paris before the Nazis seized the city. Hans built two bicycles, and they fled Paris just a few hours before it fell. Among the meager possessions they brought with them was the illustrated manuscript of Curious George. The books were published by Houghton Mifflin in 1941. Curious George was an instant success, and the Reys were commissioned to write more adventures of the mischievous monkey and his friend, the Man in the Yellow Hat. They wrote seven stories in all. Their title Happy Halloween made The New York Times Best Seller List in 2013. At first, Margret's name was left off the cover because there was a glut of women already writing children's fiction. In later editions, this was corrected, and Margret now receives full credit for her role in developing the stories. H. A. Rey died in 1977 and in 1989 Margaret Rey established the Curious George Foundation to help creative children and prevent cruelty to animals. (Bowker Author Biography) show less
