Description
Video scriptwriter Richard Young is looking forward to a week at home with his wife and their little daughter. He thinks it's going to be a pleasant time of barbecues and lazy summer days. It isn't. It is going to be hell.Because the stranger who arrives at their home, begging to be driven to the nearest police station, is being hunted. Hunted by something that cannot be seen, cannot be heard - yet which has the power to move across the land crushing flat everything in its path. Stalking and show more killing remorselessly.Within minutes, Richard Young, his family and the stranger (who is not the innocent victim he seems) are being pursued relentlessly by a malignant occult force that pounds and pulps its victims like the Hammer of God itself...Darker, first published in 1996, is another gripping horror from Simon Clark. show lessTags

I'd forgotten how much fun Simon Clark's books are. DARKER is no exception, a joy from start to finish. You're straight into the action and it doesn't let up, as an invisible force stalks a family across the English countryside. There's a marvelous set piece in York Minster, some great suspense scenes, and a satisfying, if slightly Hollywood, ending. All in all, I loved it.
This book is a really quick read. The plot is very simple, but it is pulled off very well. The charachters were well done.
This book took me 4x longer to read than the other Simon Clark books I've read. It was ok, but I didn't like the style he took with the story line much at all. It was a tad boring in comparisson to his other books, makes me think perhaps this was just a "space filler"
Well, what can I say about this…not really sure, it was nothing special. Not a bad story, but not really good either. Easy enough read so I didn’t bother putting it down but not really sure why I kept reading. Just not that memorable. Guess that’s all I have to say.
