This book has several cute stories in it. The rats on the roof story is about some dogs that live in a house and there are rats on the roof so they hire a cat to take care of the rats for them. When the cat finds out he says he does not like rats but the rats end up leaving any way because of the noise the cat had made the day before. ( )

Sophie and Otis have a slight problem at night. They have rats who dance on their roof. Sophie and Otis don't get much sleep anymore. They wake up tired every morning. They are so tired, they place an ad in the paper for a cat. When Mr. Tomcat arrives at the house, he inspects every room to find a suitable place to sleep. It is eveident to Otis and Sophie that Mr. Tomcat is only looking for a place to stay, not a job. In fact Mr. Tomcat is afraid of rats. When he finds out that Sophie and Otis have a rat problem he runs away. Because of the noise, the rats move out. Sohpie and Otis got rid of the rats, with the help of Mr. Tomcat after all.
