An interesting example of how an author attempts to recapture the lightning in a bottle following a highly successful book.
There was a strong effort in painting different characters, but one which was not wholly successful as I often was confused as to which supporting character was which.
The pacing was supported by the structure of the book, but the introduction of the heroic female spy was contrived and clashed with the more believable story setting. Furthermore, the suicidal wife of a supporting character (while undoubtedly realistic) distracted from the book’s focus).
Overall, a well written book, but not one to reread again.
