Gene Kelly was originally cast opposite Garland. He broke his ankle & part was offered to Astaire, who'd retired 2 yrs prior. Film includes some of Astaire's & Garland's best-known songs: Easter Parade, Steppin' Out with My Baby & We're a Couple of Swells, all by Irving Berlin. A feast treat
