Broken into five sections-The Status Quo, The Descent, Death in the Middle, The Rising, and Return with the Elixir-"Make it a Double" is a heartfelt, humorous recounting of what it was like to be stuck on a barstool year after year over a ten-year period, ruminating on one's purpose. I absolutely loved this collection. I felt like I was diving deeper into McNair's mind with each poem I read. A variety of subjects are covered, all through the lens of alcohol. An evocative read that will capture you, and you'll want to keep reading to the very end. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I have to say this definitely made me smile! ( )
