Major Alec Kershaw is one tough hombre who has many years of experience fighting Apaches. He also respects and admires their mystical beliefs, for the healing the healing power of their ghosts dances and for their fighting spirit.

While the novel is fiction, it does explain the Apache fighting methods and their culture. It is also a great adventure yarn that is difficult to put down and a complicated love story to boot.
