Really enjoyed all three stories! The Archer Family Christmas was the one I was most anticipating but both of the other stories were delightful! ( )

I never tire of Christmas and I have a list of books and movies that I love to revisit each year during the holiday season. I now have a new book by Karen Witemeyer to add to that list! Under the Texas Mistletoe is a collection of three novellas that are set in Texas during the 1890s, and they carry the Witemeyer trademarks of humor, romance, family, and faith. I found myself smiling and laughing, but there were also moments of tears. Memories of past Christmases with my family are often bittersweet, and these stories of Christmas and family filled me with the same emotions.

Each novella is a joy to read, and I love Witemeyer's mission to share the true meaning of Christmas in each of them. 'A Texas Christmas Carol' has a Texas banker who thinks like Ebenezer Scrooge but is capable of causing heart palpitations; 'An Archer Family Christmas' introduces a tiny baby who promises to bring love and joy to the Archer family; and 'Gift of the Heart' features a widow who must sacrifice a family heirloom so that she can secure shelter for her and her daughter. All three are lovely, heartwarming tales that allude to treasured Bible stories, and there are three added bonuses. Who wouldn't like two Christmas recipes, a look at some American Christmas traditions of the 19th century, or an inspiring devotional about the greatest gift ever given?

Under the Texas Mistletoe is an absolute delight and I recommend it to all who enjoy historical romance and Christmas-themed stories. Reading it will surely put you in the Christmas spirit!

I received a copy of this book from the author and Bethany House Publishers. There was no obligation for a positive review and I am voluntarily sharing my thoughts. ( )

Under the Texas Mistletoe is a collection of Christmas Historical Romance Novellas by Karen Witemeyer. She is among one of my favorite authors and this one does not disappoint. It was fun catching up with characters from her previous books. The novellas include:
A Texas Christmas Carol
An Archer Family Christmas
Gift of the Heart
I enjoyed every single one of these novellas. They are exactly what I would expect from this author. Fun entertainment that keeps me reading until the end.

I am giving Under the Texas Mistletoe a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoyed reading historical romance novella collections. As always, I will be looking forward to more by Karen Witemeyer in the future.

I received a paperback copy of Under the Texas Mistletoe from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion. ( )

Under the Texas Mistletoe is a collection of Christmas novellas from Karen Witemeyer. But it is also so much more! It has Christmas-themed devotionals as well as recipes tucked in between the stories, and those special details make this collection a perfect Christmas gift for the Christian fiction lovers in your life (including yourself!).
The first novella is a new, unpublished story titled “A Texas Christmas Carol.” This story was absolutely charming. From the play on the original character names to the genuine dose of Christmas spirit infused within its pages, Evan and Felicity’s story is a must-read this Christmas season. I laughed out loud. I had tears in my eyes. And at the end, the prick of the true Christmas Spirit gave me goosebumps in the redemptive qualities of Evan’s story.
The second novella, “An Archer Family Christmas” has been on my TBR since it released in digital form last year. I love the Archer family from their full-length novels/novellas, so I was thrilled to be able to visit their family once again. In true Archer fashion, danger and threatens to steal their Christmas cheer, but the brothers join forces to fight against evil. I loved getting a deeper insight into Jim and Cassandra’s relationship and their struggles. It’s a beautiful story and one I highly recommend for all Archer brothers fans. My only complaint is that there can always be more Crockett. (wink)
And the third novella is a previously published novella “Gift of the Heart.” I read this story when it was first released and fell in love with Ruth and her daughter. It is a heartwarming story of second chances and thawing hearts. I loved every minute of it, and it is a perfect inclusion in this collection.
This collection is perfect for the holiday season as each story does not take long to read, and they bring such joy and Christmas spirit into your thoughts and heart. I would highly recommend Under the Texas Mistletoe for any fan of Christian historical fiction, and this collection is perfect for gift giving.
I was given a copy of this book by the publisher with no expectations of a positive review. All opinions are my own. ( )

A Texas Christmas Carol - I loved how Felicity is the perfectly charming antidote to Eben’s tough demeanor. Their interactions are fun and their romance is believable. The lesson of learning the true meaning of Christmas is well woven in the story. This novella is the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit!
An Archer Family Christmas - It is such a treat to be able to read more about the Archer family! This novella has some sad moments but the thread of hope is well integrated in the story and the plot has a satisfying conclusion. The story flows well and is fast-paced; I had a hard time setting this one aside! The themes of family and faith are once again strong and make a great overall story.
Gift of the Heart - With amusing bits and charming wit, this novella shines the brightest in this collection. There are several Biblical connections in the story that are such a neat link. I like that the characters are strong in spirit, but also relatable and needing to rely on God’s strength just like we do. This story did not feel like a novella for it flowed as well as a full-length novel. I greatly enjoyed this story!

Each of these novellas has charm, romance, and faith that together create a collection that is well worth the read!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. Opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own. ( )
