Description

Like millions of other gorgeous, iron-pumped young guys, Derek Bracken came to Hollywood with dreams of stardom and maybe a chance at Mr. Right. But after a few years of waiting tables, juggling acting classes and auditions, and working the casting couch on his back, Derek's still a sexy unknown...until a sheet-soaking session with a Hollywood hotshot takes his life and career in a very new and profitable direction...

This is one I bought awhile back and never seemed to be in the mood to read. I finally made myself read it and it was much better than I was expecting. (Did anyone else picture Brent as Hugh Jackman?? Without the british accent?) The restaurant stuff was reminiscent of "Latter Days," but maybe that's what life is truly like in West Hollywood. Everybody's a waiter. The transition into the escort business was believable. As weird as it may sound, I liked Derek better at the end than at the beginning, regardless of his chosen profession.

On a scale of 1 to 10, a 6.
What is supposed to be a fun, glitzy beach read is nothing more than a waste of time. The writing is bad and the story is unbelievable and preachy. Things just happen for no reason, there is no suspense and the characters are too lame to care about. Read Tricks of the Trade by Ben Tyler and stay away from this dog.
