This book is a compilation of small observations and musings. It's filled with moments of reflection and a love letter to simple joys: passing a simple blade of grass on the sidewalk, the freedom of peeing outdoors late at night, or the way a hand-built ceramic mug feels when it's full of warm tea on a chilly morning. It's a catalog and a compendium that examines the complicated experience of being all too human and interacting with a complex, confounding, breathtaking world ... and a reminder to stop and be awake and alive in yourself.

Thank you to Misha Collins, Andrews McMeel Audio, Andrews McMeel Publishing, and Netgalley for a free audio-galley arc of 'Some Things I Still Can't Tell You' for an honest review.

I was definitely first interested in this based on the writer. This is the first collected work I've read by Collins, and it was nice for it to be a self-narrated collection of his poetry. While the poetry is not perfect, I felt there was something yearning and flawed and deeply human throughout the whole struggle of the chronological working of the order of the pieces.

While I appreciate his note in the afterward about how poetry volumes never make a publisher money, perhaps his book will see a little bit more movement due to the higher set pf his cap post-Supernatural, with his 'Army of Good' collective across the internet. ( )

This is my first time reading a poetry book. Felt it was fitting on the anniversary of my Supernatural victimisation to read poetry by Misha Collins. All the poems about his wife were incredibly sad. Adele has nothing on his divorce angst. ( )

Do I have words? I don't think I have words. So gorgeous; I read through this in a single sitting and wanted more. ( )

I tend to be very hit-or-miss with poetry, but Misha’s poems seem to be MY kind of poems. No rhyme scheme, just sort of stream-of-consciousness. A lot of his poems hurt my soul in a way that only good poetry can. And a lot of them were adorable and heartwarming, especially the ones about his kids. “Present. Tense.” was my favorite poem in this collection. I’d already heard it because he recorded himself reading it and put it up on his YouTube channel; I was wondering if I’d find one I liked better, but that one is still my favorite. ( )

A short collection of deceptively simple poems, mostly about love of some kind, but never sappy. Easily read in a very short sitting, the style may remind you of Mary Oliver, although Collins's subject matter is quite different. Many of the images in these little gems will surely take up permanent residence with me--purple flower petals crushed underfoot, a father's strong hands, an old dog leaning against his human while she cooks bacon...

Collins the poet/actor/father/activist is also the founder of Random Acts, a philanthropic volunteer organization that facilitates what the name suggests. You maybe should check out both the book and the charity. ( )
