I had previously read Gordon's [book:The Physician|817573] which I thoroughly enjoyed. I was intrigued by this jacket because I thought he only wrote historical fiction, and this book is set in contemporary times. It's the last in the Cole family trilogy. Gordon never simply has his characters act; he always lets you into their thoughts as they struggle with choices they have to deal with in life.

This was the third book in a trilogy of the Cole medical dynasty. It was totally different from the first two in that it was set in the 20th century and the main character was a woman. I thought it dealt with really controversial issues such as abortion and euthanasia extremely well. Have to say though it was not my favourite book of the trilogy but still a good read.

Not as good as the first two in the series, but an easy read. It made riding the exercise bike a lot more pleasant.
