I totally enjoyed this story. I loved Abigail who seemed very trusting despite not knowing if "Jonah" was a good guy or not so good. She has a very protective nature and I love her patience and kindness. I think she is a really kind hearted person and I love the little bit of mystery and intrigue as the story progresses. You will want to continue reading just to find out who Jonah really is. This is a very enjoyable book.

The young Amish woman Abigail manages the Shadow Lake Inn with her parents and her two younger sisters. When she finds an injured man on the lakeshore one day, she hides him and tends to his wounds. Jonah, as she calls him, has been shot and has lost his memory. As he slowly recovers, they develop feelings for each other, but can they have a future together when there are so many secrets surrounding him, and he is not Amish?
This is not only a romance novel, but also a mystery, and I really cared about the characters. The story is told slowly and mindfully, and I enjoyed it very much. Some aspects are easily guessed and sometimes I wanted the characters to take a little more action, but overall this is a wonderful book to get lost in. It show more was also interesting to learn more about the Amish. show less

The Memory Quilt by Lenora Worth is a sweet story. I thought the story contained good writing with developed characters. We get to know the King family who run the Shadow Lake Inn. Abigail’s parents have given Abigail the running of the inn because they have health issues. I did find it curious how Abigail was able to spend so much time caring for Jonah when she was responsible for a busy inn. There is a mystery regarding Jonah’s identity and how he ended up injured. No one seems to be looking for him either. There is some suspense near the end. I wish there had been more clues for the reader so they could try to solve the mystery before the reveal (I love solving mysteries). I would have liked a little more action as that would show more have increased the stories pacing. There was also repetition of information. I enjoyed reading about Abigail’s unique quilt. The King family were a close-knit unit with caring parents who wanted to make sure their daughters stayed on the straight and narrow. They did not want to risk gossip about their girls or that one of them would jump the fence. The descriptions of the area around the inn sounded beautiful. It would be a wonderful place to go on vacation. The Memory Quilt is a unique Amish novel with fragmented memories, considerate sisters, apprehensive parents, a compassionate maedel, an upsetting situation, and a sticky situation. show less
Abigail and her family manage the Shadow Lake Inn, a major tourist destination in Pennsylvania. When Abigail rescues an injured man from Shadow Lake, she never expects the significant changes that will occur in her life as a result of this kind deed. She calls him "Jonah," as a result of being "spit out of the lake," as Jonah was spit out from the whale in scriptures. Jonah has no memory of how he came to be in the lake or how he acquired his injuries. Upon his recovery, Jonah rapidly becomes a valued part of the King family and their Shadow Lake Inn operations. However, he cannot give up trying to remember who he was in his "non-Amish" life. Jonah engages help from law enforcement in his search for the truth of his life.
Abigail and show more Jonah try to deny their growing love for each other, since both of them know the heartaches their relationship could bring. However, Jonah also knows he could be endangering Abigail, her sisters, and her parents as he gains parts of his memory and realizes his role in his previous life.
This novel contains elements of drama and suspense, as well as romance. The characters are lively and the setting is eloquently portrayed with good use of detail to evoke a feeling of being there for the reader. The story builds to an exciting climax, with a few teasers earlier in the book to keep readers guessing about Jonah's true identity. All loose threads are neatly tied up in the end.
Readers of Amish fiction novels will appreciate this different and suspense-filled story. The novel lacks overt sexual intimacy and strong language. This novel is advertised as the first in a series. Hopefully the author will continue this series, as I am anxious to read additional stories about the King family.
I received this novel from the publisher and from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own. show less
