I tend to make very scrappy quilts, usually using each fabric in only one block. The author takes scrap quilting to an entirely different level. The quilts in this book are based on traditional blocks, and the author doesn't really do anything unusual with the design or construction of the blocks. But the colors - wow!
The approach to fabric is similar to that of a charm quilt, where each fabric is used for only one piece. By carefully controlling light/dark values, the author has made some beautiful quilts from wild assortments of fabrics. Very inspirational for using up the two huge bins of scraps that lurk in the corner of my sewing room. My only complaint is that, for the price, I would have liked photos of more quilts.

Excellent advice on color choices to make scrap quilts really exciting. Everything from a simple four-patch to a more advanced "Cropped Pinwheels." Directions for using the rotary cutting or templates for each pattern. Patterns also include: Jacob's Ladder, Snail's Trail, lots of different triangles, lots of different stars, plus a sampler, and a contemporary wall quilt. A great donation for our library.
Excellent instructions and helpful hints, colorful drawings & diagrams illustrate the instructions. Full color photos of finished projects. Skill level range from basic beginner to fabric artisan level. Nice section covering various quilting techniques.
