Fans of the Hallmark Channel and Gilmore Girls will adore this delightful rom‑com about a city girl who goes in search of small-town happiness, only to discover life--and love--are nothing like the TV movies. Emerging journalist Adina Gellar is done with dating in New York City. If she's learned anything from made-for-TV romance movies, it's that she'll find love in a small town--the kind with harvest festivals, delightful but quirky characters, and scores of delectable single dudes. So when a big-city real estate magnate targets tiny Pleasant Hollow for development, Adi knows she's found the perfect story--one that will earn her a position at a coveted online magazine, so she can finally start adulting for real . . . and maybe even find her dream man in the process.  Only Pleasant Hollow isn't exactly "pleasant." There's no charming bakery, no quaint seasonal festivals, and the residents are more ambivalent than welcoming. The only upside is Finn Adams, who's more mouthwatering than the homemade cherry pie Adi can't seem to find--even if he does work for the company she'd hoped to bring down. Suddenly Adi has to wonder if maybe TV got it all wrong after all. But will following her heart mean losing her chance to break into the big time?… (more)

Struggling NYC writer Adina Gellar pitches what she thinks is the perfect story to finally launch her career. Find a small town like Stars Hollow, maybe have a developer trying to gentrify and find love among the close-knit community. With the unwavering support of her mother, Adina heads to Pleasant Hollow after learning a millionaire realtor from the city is building mixed use housing. What she finds in Pleasant Hollow is far from Hallmark. From the B&B to the brewery, the townspeople seem unconcerned and actually happy about some of the new amenities that will soon arrive. And she discovers right away that the people aren't all that friendly, there isn't a bakery, and they don't have any local festivals. At all. The best find she has for a Hallmark hunk is the on-site foreman for the development, and Finn actually hails from NYC too. It's a cute rom-com as Adina finds new angles for the story. ( )

As Seen on TV is a well-written, rom-com novel that had me hooked from the beginning. It felt like I was reading a Hallmark movie script. Great, relatable storyline, well-developed characters, and an easy read. Highly recommend! ( )

The journalist heroine is full of ideas about small-town lifestyles from watching television movies and travels to Pleasant Hollow after learning that a huge real estate magnate wants to development said town. After arriving at Pleasant Hollow, the heroine learns that reality is vastly different from her preconceptions and also meets the hero, who works for the real estate company. The more the heroine stays at Pleasant Hollow, the more the heroine realizes that something has changed, but will it be for the better?

This is my first Meredith Schorr book that I've read. I liked the premise and a view of small-town lifestyle that is different from the broad template of how a fictional small town should be. I also liked that there are some entertaining secondary characters in this book, since the story really needed them. As for the main characters, I liked the hero more than the heroine. The heroine has some personality traits that were tolerable, but at times those traits were hindering the story in my view. It would have been nice if there were more details added to make the story flow smoothly, which is something that I prefer in the books I read.

I really enjoyed the Gilmore Girls, and some of the Hallmark movies, so I was intrigued when I saw this book.
We are given a young woman who wants a juicy story to offer readers and get a better job. She heads out of NY City and goes north to the small berg of Pleasant Hollow. We are with her, and her limited budget, as she goes about trying to find her story. What she didn’t expect was to find a love interest, one she doesn’t want to let go of.
Will she find the corruption she is hoping to find, or will she find what is under her nose? Well, we are there as she goes about this small place, and meets some interesting characters!
Can she inspire some interest? Or will she go home and back to her life as a Spin Instructor? Keep reading!
I received this book through Net Galley and Forever [Grand Central Publishing], and was not required to give a positive review. ( )
