Description

Once the wolves of Dublin take control, who knows what they plan to do with us? They are savages. And we are at their mercy. It is the year 870. Hordes of Vikings sweep through the green lands of Northumbria and Ireland, raiding and pillaging. Soon, no kingdom will be safe from their bloodlust. Tamsin has always been safe behind the walls of her sanctuary. Safe enough to yearn for a glimpse of the world beyond. But with the Viking threat looming, even her secretive kingdom must open its show more gates to invite allies. And she gets far more than a glimpse. The three lords of Dublin are on the hunt for women of her kind. Thrain Mordsson, youngest of the three and bent on a personal vendetta, doesn't take much stock in the ancient prophecies. He marches into battle for the glory rather than the spoils. Until he finds himself standing right in front of a fiery-haired princess, and the touch of her hand wakes an ancient magic in them both. Once Thrain has earned Tamsin's trust, once he has tasted her in the darkness of her godhouse, his loyalties begin to splinter. And all he knows is that he must protect her from the coming storm at any cost. Stolen by the Wolves is a fantasy non-shifter omegaverse romance based loosely on real historical events. In this new slow-burn reverse harem series, kingdoms break apart, and ancient magic is rediscovered. Intended for mature listeners. show less

DNF at 71% when the FMC reached her destination as an engaged captive.

I should have checked my Goodread friends' reviews again before I started the book after receiving a free copy in some sale... Rain's review pretty much summed up my thoughts about the book with regards to lack of (much) smut and obvious signs of a reverse harem. The RH will probably show up further along in the series based on the author's blurb, but this book was strictly MF - at least as far as I could tell at 71%. Honestly, I didn't really like the FMC at all and thought her personality was very grating.

While there were hints of omegaverse with the personalities and knotting, I had yet to see any magic to push this into the fantasy category. I've also confirmed show more that historical omegaverse (and overly religious tones) isn't really my cup of tea. There was quite a lot of descriptive brutal violence that I guess is on par for the era, but I can't say I was really into it.

I'd recommend this book to people who enjoy long epic slow-burn historical Viking romance with a side of omegaverse (and apparently future RH) and without much steamy smut.
