Absolutely delicious monster smut. I loved it. Forced marriage, endearing miscommunication trope, KNOTTING, primal play, and characters that I actually really liked.
I went in not expecting much but I devoured this book. It has world building and character development with well balanced smut. I really REALLY loved this book. Allerick is divine and I love his relationships with his court / friends. Ophelia is a FMC that I adore and truly enjoy, I was rooting for that girl to get railed. show more
Totally recommend to my monster loving smut readers and I cannot wait to read the next in this series!! show less

Tbh I think there could have been a little more editing but that might be personal taste. Some passages I think were meant to be a turn on did make me laugh instead, but it didn’t ruin anything for me. I do really like the universe created here and of course, the shades. I need a book about the brother. Woof.
Special shout out to the author for resolving the third act conflict quickly. I can’t stand it when that stuff is dragged out. Kudos.
3.5 stars.

An enjoyable romance book during this political climate!
I was surprised by how much I actually enjoyed the miscommunication trope because usually those don't work well. Colette Rhodes had a well written and believable miscommunication trope with the different species and misunderstanding due to historical blindness. I laughed so much every time Allerick kept thinking she was afraid instead of horny!
It did take a minute to truly believe in these characters. Both Ophelia and Allerick were a show more bit two dimensional until the second half when more than just the horniness and respective species identities came through.
Still thoroughly enjoyable! Haven't decided if I'm going to continue with the series though. show less

This was a great book! I enjoyed it a lot.
Our lovely MCs are the perfect match, and while I don't condone kidnapping, I understand that that was the basis of this story to begin with and it was much more palatable in this retelling. (hah!)
I also was very interested in some of the minor characters and would very much love to see a "spin-off" of their lives and loves as well. hint hint!
