Essays in workmanlike English for the intelligent non-specialist, hardly bettered in 75 years. When Haldane needed data, as for instance in the construction of decompression tables for divers, he experimented on himself - not, as in the fashion of so-called "scientists" of a later era, on others who were ignorant of the nature and dangers of the experiments being carried out on them.
This is an OLD book I stumbled across. The collection of essays really shows the mindset of the time period. Some of the essays are really thought-provoking, and a few of them, to me at least, were offensive.
