Shadow of Murder is a classic good vs evil with twists and turns, romance, action and some good laughs! The action starts from the very beginning and doesn't end. It was nice to get back into the Mac Faraday series. The characters were fun and it was entertaining and fun to follow Erica and Dusty. They made a great team! I've read other books by Lauren Carr and I always find it easy to get lost in her books and this one was no different making this an easy read for me. The one thing that did surprise me was the supernatural element. I don't think I've ever read a book from her with it! If you like cosy mysteries with a little bit of everything you'll enjoy this one!

Are you looking for some fun cold cases to solve? Maybe even a bit of mystery to solve with a twist. Lauren Carr's latest book "Shadow of Murder" does just that. We get a prologue full of mystery and murder. You will be wondering how a gunman kills an entire family. Is it real, or is it not. You will have to read or listen to find out for yourself.

This book had me going and wondering who would kill a whole family, including a law officer. There are a few main characters. We meet two of them right at the beginning of the story. Erica and Dusty.

I love the fact that mysteries are going on throughout the book. I enjoy that Erica and her friends seem to need to help the new local deputy chief. David gets some time with his wife and newborn. I recall David meeting a woman and a little boy I thought was introduced to him as his son?

Mac is pulled into a Chao once he returns from Europe with Archie. His son Tristain brings to life the disappearance of a missing person, a woman named Konnor Langston. Why did she disappear? It goes on from there. There are many mysteries and curses and stories of witches as the book goes on. I wonder who killed Erica's parents and why? Who taking advance of Larry? Why were Erica Hart's parents killed, and will Erica get justice for her childhood friend Konnor?

If you are looking for a good versus evil? This book has it. Once a dark shadow tries to harm Erica. Dusty seems to fall for a bird guiding him to help Erica. Will Erica and Dusty get together? There may be some romance for more than just two folks in the book. How will Dusty's father-law decide to find some love as well? There seems to be the talk of angels and demons? They're a bit supernatural in this book; that is a nice change to the story. ( )

Deputy Chief Dustin O’Meara, his daughter, father in law and four women were murdered in a home invasion and Mac Faraday is on the case. Because of that, the perp needs to be very nervous because Mac always gets his man.

“To the animal behind this, I want to say only one thing. I’m coming for you…and I will find you.”

Lots of great characters, human and animal both.

Teddy is a hero, a cockatoo with an attitude, and I love him. I love Kourtney too. This ten year old girl is such a fabulous character, older than her years. Gnarly always cracks me up with his hijinks. Erica, the Cold Case Diva, has a horse in a dog suit. How cool is that?

Mac may need some help, so the Nancy Drew Crew is on the case. They even made Kourtney a Junior member.

Lauren is so creative and adds a touch of humor to her murder, and I found myself smiling….a lot, sometimes laughing out loud. There is so much I want to share about the critters, but I must leave it up to you to find out why I love them so much.

I have been reading the Mac Faraday series for a long time now, but Shadow of Murder is not one of my favorites. I enjoyed the story, but I got bogged down with so many characters and so much info that I kept getting lost. This is an ARC, not a finished product, so changes may be made, creating a more polished version that the one I read.

So many plots, so many suspects, some murder, some laughs, some romance.

For a police procedural, Shadow of Murder was filled with action and a battle between good and evil and a wild ride at the end, making it all worth it.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of Shadow of Murder by Lauren Carr.

Shadow of Murder is yet another fabulous read by Lauren Carr. I read and enjoyed previous books from her Mac Faraday Mystery series and was excited to have the opportunity to read the newest release and fourteenth installment from the series. I was far from being disappointed. I have to admit, I am a lover of covers and I adored the cover and was intrigued to see what it would be all about. Oh my goodness, I thought it was great. It was fun meeting up with Erica and Dusty. They made a fun and entertaining team together. Of course, I was excited to see Mac and Gnarly, too. I wanted to find out how the mystery would be solved and see who the one responsible is. You can not read a Carr novel without the twists, turns and surprises. I loved everything about it – the setting, the humor, the characters and plot. I had to keep on reading on to the end. Such a wonderful tale to read.

I would give Shadow of Murder one hundred stars if I could. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy reading cozy mysteries. I will be looking forward to reading more books in the Mac Faraday Mysteries series. This one is one that should not be missed. I know others will not regret it.

I received a digital copy of Shadow of Murder from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion. ( )
