Description

The Gump phenomenon continues! Forrest Gump is back! The lovable man for all ages, who captured America's heart in the #1 bestselling novel Forrest Gump and in the blockbuster film, returns in the long-awaited sequel to the book hailed by Larry King as "the funniest novel I have ever read." A little older, and wiser in his own unique way, he is still running through the kaleidoscopic events of our times - and straight into the age of greed and instant gratification known as the 1980s. When show more Gump & Co. begins, the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. has gone bust and Forrest is flat broke, sweeping floors in a New Orleans strip joint and trying to raise his son, little Forrest, who needs his father more than ever. As always in Forrest's easy-come-easy-go life, a change in the weather is never far off...and when the opportunity to play championship football comes his way once more, Forrest is back in the limelight and in the money. Forrest's remarkable, touching, and utterly comic odyssey has just begun: in store for him is his own dubious recipe for adding life to New Coke; an encounter with Ollie North; and a chance yet again to unwittingly twist the nose of history. The Rollicking Sequel to the # 1 New York Times Bestseller Forrest Gump. show less

So, this book was kinda stupid, but fun to read, so I’m not complaining. Lots of weird stories happened to the main character.
This book is almost exactly like the first Gump book, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Again, we see Forrest getting into outlandish situations, such as helping invent New Coke and playing the junk bond market with Michael Milken and Ivan Boesky. This book, while not up to the standards of the original Gump book, is still worthwhile reading.
Groom's post-Zemeckis sequel unfortunately reads more like a sequel to the movie Forrest Gump rather than his original novel, which is a shame. It lacks the bite of the Forrest Gump novel, and is instantly forgettable. Meh.
A sequel to the book "Forrest Gump", in which Winston Groom brings the book up to speed with the movie, and continues a now-broke Forrest Gump's misadventures across the American landscape of the 1980's. Not as poignant as the original, but a fine comic read nonetheless.

The follow up to Forrest Gump, that continues the remarkable unbelievable story. Pretty much like Forrest Gump story wise, meeting the likes of Oliver North, Jim Baker and Michael Milden just to name a few. Once again this book like the previous one and is NOTHING like the popular movie. There is no cute moments like the movie.
Good sequel to the first book but you could tell that it was done after the movie came out and that it influenced the book.
½
Perfect for fans of the first book and fans of the movie. Laugh out loud moments and a few plucked heartstrings.

Epigraph*
LA PRIÈRE DU BOUFFON

L’agape royale a pris fin,
Le roi d’amusement a faim.
Au bouffon crie « Sire, à genoux !
Une prière invente-nous. »

Lors le fou ôtant ses clochettes
Sous les ricanemen... (show all)ts s’arrête.
Nul ne voit que sa face peinte
D’un rictus amer est empreinte.

Genoux pliés et front baissé
Face au trône de soie tissée,
« Seigneur, dit-il d’un humble ton,
Prends pitié d’un pauvre bouffon. »

[…]

La gaieté tombe et le monarque
Se retire seul en son parc
Pour marmonner, soudain profond,
« Prends pitié d’un pauvre bouffon. »

Edward Rowland Sill, 1868
