Description

Poet, teacher, essayist, anthologist, songwriter and singer, Naomi Shihab Nye is one of the country's most acclaimed writers. Her voice is generous, her vision true, her subjects ordinary people, and ordinary situations which, when rendered through her language, become remarkable. In this, her fourth full collection of poetry, we see with new eyes - a grandmother's scarf, an alarm clock, a man carrying his son on his shoulders. Narrated by the author.

REVIEW: The popularity is VERY low. Way out there. The average rating however is really high... It seems this is another situation where the book is only going to find itself read if it's assigned. But at least students enjoy it (as I did). The poems connect well to one another and it's easy to pick up and set down if you don't have time to just sit and consume.
OPINION: While I did like the poetry, the book was only so-so for me. I wasn't wholly attached to the book and only got through it just to get it over with. This sounds harsh, but perhaps it's best to consider that for those with busy lives this book will be more enjoyable when you have a moment to relax and really ponder through the content.
a person was carrying a very heavy red leather suitcase. when opened, it contained nothing but a blank sheet of paper
