Good initial internal conflicts for each MC, nice historical reference, and I really enjoyed that each MC only got more complex. There is a multi-character failure regarding a common defense they have plenty of. Nevertheless, this fulfilled my needy little haunted heart, and I will give the sequel a try when it comes out.
