It just didn't have the power some parables and stories do, though. ( ) Genre: Folklore/ Myth Media: Watercolor, tempera, and gouache Summary: This folklore is a passed down story recounts the Hebrew story of the Angel and the Donkey. This book tells the story of a soothsayer and his donkey who are to bless and save the Israelites from King Balak after being talked to by an angel. The angel has a halo. I'm sure there is a Christian slant to this, but the retelling is reasonable. Ms. Paterson adds her own spin by saying that Balaam's donkey acts strangely in front of other people and that Balaam's reaction is therefore due his embarrassment about not being able to control his animal. The pictures are vibrant. no reviews | add a review
